Grayish brown, near water, bigger than a football with RED EYES! In gilbert Arizona, Can't find out on websites for az 's native birds.... anyone know what it is?

It reminds me of a blue heron I've taken pics of here in Ohio, but, looks smaller. I googled "grayish bird in Arizona with long legs and long beak" and several came up.
