Pink bellied black bird?

by Denise
(Santa Fe, NM)

We had a bird about the size of a woodpecker which acted like a woodpecker on our tree two days ago. The most distinctive feature was a light pink belly. This was the first time we had seen that bird in Santa Fe New Mexico and cannot seem to identify it even with our Bird ID. Can you offer suggestions?

I believe it is a Lewis's Woodpecker. Here are two reputable links for you to look at yourself.
