Picture of Daddy Dove with his baby

by Laurie

Dove with baby

Doves made a nest on top of our hurricane shutters right at our front door. We were able to watch the Daddy Dove and the Mommy Dove swap places each morning and each evening as they sat on the nest. They never showed any fear as we went in and out of the front door at about an arms-length away.

Evidently one egg did not hatch, as there is only one baby bird. This picture shows the Daddy bird with the baby bird peeking out underneath him. We have greatly enjoyed the last several weeks watching this whole process.
