Black-capped Chickadee

Here are two photos of the two types of Chickadees that come to our feeder in the Pacific Northwest. One is the Black-capped Chickadee and the other is the Chestnut-backed Chickadee.

Great photos Judy. It is interesting to note that the Chickadee song is similar across North America, except for one group that habitats on Martha's Vineyard.

CHestnut-backed Chickadee

You are right, Paul. According to one of my bird books, the Chestnut-backed Chickadee is only found along the Pacific Coast from Alaska to California.

We definitely get Black capped chickadees here on the east end of Long Island. I don't believe we get the chestnut backed variety, at least I have not seen one. Anyone know if both can be found?
