Pelican in Oregon?

by natalie
(portland or)

We just bought property in rural area of Portland. Hiking around the other day and this huge bird goes flying over us with a very large salmon colored beak. It was so odd looking, the way it flew, I have never seen anything like it in Oregon. It was much larger than a hawk. It was not a blue heron.

Comment;
It certainly could be an American White Pelican. They fly as far north as northern Canada.
