today at my feeder I am seeing a pair of large 7 to 8 inches long with black and white stripes/checker board wings and breast. This bird has a long black narrow beak. I thought a starling when I first saw it but same size just black/brown white . I live in northern Indiana

Found pecking at the ground. What stood out the most was its white beak with a horizontAL stripe of yellow. Its body was black and white flecks.

We moved last year from Nashville to 20 miles west of the city. Was delighted to have 3 rose breasted grosbeaks at our feeder the other day (Apr 20, 2018)
