Parent Pileated Woodpecker

by Kathy
(Southampton.Pa.)

I live in Pa. in the suburbs of Philadelphia. Today I saw for the first time a Pileated Woodpecker. To hear it's call was exciting.

It flew to another tree with dead limbs in order to feed it's two young, who followed after from tree to tree. Very happy to see three together.
