Just saw my unknown bird for the first time in daylight...it's a painted bunting..what I took for a black head and white on back of neck in the waning light was the male bunting with the dark blue head and yellow back..I'm so excited..my first (that I have actually seen at my feeder) ever. I have sat on my porch with my binoculars off and on for the past 2 days since first sighting it trying to get a better look. I saw it yesterday right after noon but couldn't reach the binoculars quick enough. Thanks for letting me post but my sleuthing let me answer my own inquiry!
