Odd little bird

by K. Lynn
(Grand Island, NE USA)

Have never had a bird like this in my backyard. Doesn't mind being around the mourning doves,Eurasian doves or the house finches on the feeders. He stayed on the ground under the feeders and does hide in the lilacs when humans are in the yard. No other birds like him around and even the occasional black bird does not pay any attention to it. Any help in identifying would be great. I live in south central Nebraska.
