odd grey-ish tan bird in Saskatchewan


(Lumsden, Saskatchewan, Canadaa)

it was grey-ish tan all over and had distinct white markings on the wings as if they had been roughly outlined and coloured in with a white-out or something. it also had a dark line (it looked dark grey or black from where I was sitting) going from the eye to the back of the head. it was about sparrow size. any ideas?? help MUCH appreciated.

Likely your bird was a sparrow. Possibly a Grasshopper Sparrow.
