Not sure what this is

This bird was seen in late August in a Northwest suburb of Columbus Ohio. I'm not sure what it was doing as someone passed me the picture to see what it is.

Downy Woodpecker
by: Margaret Mariam

Looks like the downy woodpeckers that come to my peanut feeders. The mature males will have a red bar on the back of their heads. But the females and juveniles don't. They are common in the Northeast; not sure if that is true for the Northwest.

I was thinking this is a woodpecker because of its bill, but I wasn't sure.

Thanks!

Looks like a female Downy Woodpecker.

Male looks identical except it has a red check on back of head.
