Northern Flicker

While looking out my kitchen window, what do I see? A Northern Flicker landing in my front yard! What a rare treat this was. We were fortunate enough to watch this Northern Flicker dig out and eat some ants right in front of us. I was fortunate enough to have my camera right there by me so that I could take a photo of this beautiful Northern Flicker.

He was very entertaining to watch. He wondered about the yard pecking and digging up the dirt searching for ants to eat. We have many birds who frequent our yard and bird feeders, but this was the first time we were fortunate to have a Northern Flicker choose our yard to search for ants.
Enjoy this photo of our sighting of a Northern Flicker right in our front yard in Ohio!
