Fur donor Misty Our new neighbour Collecting Misty's fur

As I was grooming my Cairn Terrier, Misty, last week, I didn't want to see that lovely soft undercoat go to waste. So I put her fur in a suet feeder (sans suet)and hung it in a tree. Today I observed a pair of Chestnut-backed Chickadees flying in and out of our bird house. I followed them to the suet feeder and watched them gathering hugh beakfuls of Misty's fur. That should be one cozy nest!

Judy, what a fabulous TIP! Birds love hair for their nests, but how many of us have thought to donate our pets shearings to the cause. Thank you for sharing.
