new bird?

by Robert Crane
(Kenosha Wisconsin)

I have lived in Kenosha most of my life - 60 years - and have never seen this bird before. It looks like a robin with red breast but has a white ring around its neck and white tips on the wings. Any ideas? I have not been able to get a picture as of yet.

Hi Robert;
If you lived further west, I would say you have spotted a female Black-headed Grosbeak - which fits your description. Hope you can get a photo. Maybe someone has an idea?? Susan

Susan thanks for the input but I have checked the photo of the female Black-headed Grosbeak - it is not it. The bird looks more like a robin and a pigeon crossed. Robert
