New Bird in Black Hills

by Vicki
(Rapid City, SD, USA)

We live in the Black Hills of western South Dakota and have a large variety of birds visit our feeders. A new one has appeared. It is about the size of a robin, basically black back and wings. Has a white/light grey collar all around its throat. And a very bright "coral" belly. It seems to prefer the suet cakes. With the bad weather it may have been forced off course. It doesn't appear in the bird books for our region.
