Mystery Bird?

by Laura Hess
(Colorado Springs, Colorado )

I wish I had some photos, but it was my Dad that saw this and he doesn't have a camera. His description:

A medium sized bird, about the size of a Robin.
Brownish in color, with a white/light stripe running from top to bottom on the wings (long ways, not horizontal bars).

A yellow ring around the neck.

Any ideas? Thanks all!
