Mystery Bird

by Kristi
(Shelton, WA USA)

These pics were taken from inside as I did not want to scare them away. They were mostly a taupe/mousey color, with white wings and what appears to be a yellow color on the face, over eyes and around beak. This was in WA state and it sounded like they clicked? as opposed to chirping.

Sorry I cannot be more specific. It was a very fast visit :)

Evening Grossbeak?
by: JudyRanson-Seattle

Hi Kristi.. This bird most closely resembles an Evening Grosbeak. I live in Renton and on rare occasions they visit us in the summer.. However, their back and stomach are normally bright yellow. I wonder if their plumage changes color in the winter like Goldfinches do?
