Mystery bird on Minneapolis seed feeder

by Dianne
(Minneapolis, MN)

This bird visits my seed feeders along with lots of gold finches. The bird is large enough to feed sideways. It's grey and chubby with speckled breast and back. It sometimes sits with beak open. It also whets its beak against the metal pole.

Hi, I'm sorry but I can't picture your bird from your description. Feeding sideways? Sits with it's mouth open? Speckled? Hopefully someone else can grasp your description and Id it for you.
