Mysterious bird

Finch-like bird. Slightly larger than a sparrow. Most prominent feature is the white tail. I'm no bird expert, but I suspect this could be an escaped domestic pet.

Canary?

Peter, since you think your mystery bird might be a domestic escapee, I am thinking that it looks a lot like a canary. Germany is famous for breeding the best singing canaries. Can you try to capture him? He won't survive cold weather.

    It is grey with a long beak and a white ring around it's neck. The bird is about the size of a dove and I live in Florida near the Georgia line.
