Mourning Doves on our front Porch

by sandra

these are the babies.

these are the babies.

We have a nest on our front porch about 10 feet above ground. At first it seemed like only one bird was sitting on the nest the entire 2 weeks. Now I've learned that there are 2 birds...We were wondering how this bird can sit there for almost 3 weeks. All of a sudden 3 weeks later I noticed 2 little heads peeking out of the nest. The 2 babies are so adorable. I CAN"T BELIEVE HOW FAST THEY ARE GROWING. The parents leave them alone for hours and hours. Yesterday I had to shoo away a crow that was circling the area. I'm was a little worried about them at first but seeing how fast they are growing I'm hopeful that they will learn to fly soon. This whole thing has been a very interesting experience and we will miss them when they are gone.
