I live in Chicago. Each morning a bird lands on the evergreen outside my window. It is round, grey and has an orange beak and mohawk. It looks like an oversized finch. Any ideas?

Without seeing it it sounds like it could be a female cardinal. Their beaks are brillantly orange . Google a picture and see if it is a female cardinal. Let me know!

It is larger than a sparrow. I have not seen any red feathers. I have a camera next to my bed now to try to get a picture.
