migrating bird maybe?

im sorry that i don't have a picture of the bird, the best way that i can describe it thought is that it looks like a small chipmunk in color, with the markings that it has and almost darts around like one, it has longer tail feathers that come up than a regular sparrow does that's why i didn't think it was in the sparrow group. iv'e not seen a bird like this before and i figure it might be migrating for the upcoming winter season and it also traveled in a pair so i hope to see it come back. although it went to my feeder it seemed to like my skyrocket juniper like it was looking for bugs to eat. i am hoping if they come back i can get some kind of picture of them and maybe they'll stay they are beautiful. i know this isn't much at all to go on so any help at all would be a start. thanks.
