long billed curlew?

by Martha
(Florence, Oregon)

The last week in March I drove across Oregon. Around Burns, Oregon I saw large flocks of avocet shaped gray birds with long curved bills feeding in wet pastureland. I can't remember if the bills were curved up or down. Were these migrating long billed curlews?

Comment:
Lucky you! It could have been or even a Whimbrel migrating north.
