Large squawking bird in Minnesota

by Roberts
(Minnesota)

This tan-colored bird has been hanging around our house all week. It doesn't appear to be able to fly, but walks around our yard and runs away when we approach her.

It is about the size of a turkey but squawks and chirps instead of gobbling. Thanks for any help!

I contacted MOU and they report the belief that this may be an inbreed Guinea Fowl.

Go on-line to the Minnesota Ornithologists Union. Send the photograph and your observations to the editor listed on the contact list. Good luck.
