Large solid brown, long-legged bird walking across highway in Northeastern PA . . .

While driving on State Route 901 in Northeastern PA, a huge solid brown colored bird/goose/prehistoric creature walked across the highway in front of my car. At first, I thought it was some sort of while turkey; however, it had none of the typical turkey features. I cannot find any picture on line that truly represents this creature. This was sited around 5 p.m. on a warm, sunny day.

also saw a 'pre-historic' looking bird in Northeastern PA NEW
by: Cathy

On 9/26/2012, my sister and son saw a long legged, long crooked beaked, gray and white, with an approx. wing span of 5ft. fly just over the roof of our house. It landed on the phone line for a few seconds and then flew off towards the Wilkes-Barre area. Neither one had their phone with them. It apparently looked like a pre-historic bird as well.
