Large gray bird, the size of a Red-tailed hawk, but looks like a pigeon

LARGE, mostly slate gray on the upper body and back, a buff color breast and under body, white patch on the bottom tail feathers, with a band of white & black behind the head, and a large yellow bill.

If it wasn't so large, I would say it was some kind of pigeon or dove, but I don't know of any Giant Sized pigeons

Area: northern california, sonoma county

Your bird is a Band-tailed Pigeon. They are found all up and down the Pacific coast.
