Large bird in Kentucky with Orange/red stripes on wings

by Ann
(Bardstown Ky)

While driving in Kentucky we saw a large bird resembling a hawk. Sitting on top of tree with 2 or 3 orange/red stripes on the wings. Havent seen this before. Looked up a red shoulder hawk but the pic didnt look like what I saw. Please help give me an idea if you have one

Thanks
Ann

Your bird is likely an American Kestrel or Red Shouldered Hawk.
