Katy -- Sacramento

by Katy Grimes
(Sacramento, CA)

This beautiful white bird has been living in my very large Deodara Cedar trees for about six week. Is it a dove? A pigeon?

The bird is about 12" head to tail, has fairly meaty legs and about a 2' wingspan. It flutters like a dove from tree to tree, and loves dove food.

Very friendly, cautious with my dogs.

Is there a platform we can build for it in the tree? What can we do to make her feel safer and more at home in our yard?

could be a pigeon

This could be a pigeon. Although rare, I have seen white ones. They are used to people and can be trainable. There are people who keep them as pets.
