Using Wheat for birds
by: Roger

I regularly thin out my wild bird food with wheat as I think it makes it go further. However I have noticed that the finches 'wade' through the bird feeders quicker looking for other seed and I finish up with a nice crop of young wheat coming through the grass underneath the bird feeders if the pigeons aren't quick :)

Some birds will eat wheat. It is sometimes used as a filler in bird seed mixes and when birds have a choice they will usually not eat the wheat.
