Is this a blue jay?

We have a family of blue birds in our backyard. I've read that bluejays are aggressive and I was wondering if this bird will attack us. My 10mo old son is a little scared of them since they fly down towards us when we are in the yard.

Yes, I agree it's a scrub jay. They are protected here in Florida.
They are VERY friendly and will land on an extended arm.
Have no fear, they are sweet and docile. Your family is in for some great times with them!
