Identiy a larger bird who make strange sound

It's bigger than a common pigeon, it is grey with white tail tips. I wasn't able to good look so I can't tell you about the head or wing coloring. It baffles me as it makes just one sound. No song no multiple sounds. The sound it makes kinda sounds like a crow but not as screechy. It's very soft sounding. One little cry and that's it. I live in the Pasadena CA area.

Hello, I'm wondering if it is a Mourning Dove, they sound like a woman weeping. It is a soft noise but I would describe it like a non-scratchy crow. If you are not a birder the easiest way to determine if this is correct is to type into your search bar:

If this isn't it you can go to:
AllAboutBirds.org and look there
