ID this hummingbird

1" tan with white upside down v stripes on it's body

a downward curving beak, absolutely tiny,
looks like a large moth with hummingbird wings
I am in South Central Texas

Female Calliope

Sounds like you might be describing a female Calliope Hummingbird, but they're not supposed to be in Texas.

maybe it is a moth - there is a species of hawk moth that is like a tiny humming bird - it's as you describe it in colour the wings beat so fast it makes that same humming sound ...
