Hummingbird cowgirl

I live in Calgary Alberta Canada and have been trying to attract hummingbirds for at least 6 or 7 years. This year we have been thrilled to have a few show up in August and actually stick around! I've been entranced by their antics. One sassy one chased off bees feeding on nearby flowers. Then two arrived in tandem. One hovering about a foot away from the feeder. The second about a foot higher. To my surprise after hovering several seconds the higher one hovered even higher to my eye level (I was looking from behind my bedroom window). There it hovered for 5 or 6 seconds and then swooped down and the two took off!! I'm so thrilled this year and can hardly wait for next May.

We have a new one lately (a little more skittish) who's been hanging around for a few days too. I'm expecting them to be gone soon as it's nearly September. Thanks for posting!
