How To Get Rid of Pests at My Hummingbird Feeder?

Question: how do i keep bee's from my feeder's? Will the hummingbirds, stay away from the feeders when there are bees there?????

Hi Janice

Are you sure they are bees and not wasps? Wasps like hummingbird feeders and you can eliminate wasps by placing a shallow pan of water beneath the feeder. As wasps tend to quarrel with each other, they tend to fall into the water and quickly drown. Try it.

Paint the flowers RED.
by: Judy-Seattle

Although I haven't tried this yet, I read somewhere that if you paint the little yellow flowers red on your hummingbird feeder, it will not attract the wasps but the hummingbirds will still use the feeder. They suggested painting the flowers with red nail polish. Let us know if you try it and if it works!
