High Pitched Gobbling Late at Night

by Mick
(Michigan)

I was sleeping in my bed one night, and a strange shrieking noise woke me up. I went outside, and all I could hear was this very high pitch, almost vibrating, gobbling noise. It sounded as if it was almost being attacked. It almost sounded like a miniature turkey or pheasant. I live in Michigan in the Flint area and I have a forest right behind my house. It reminded me of how baby bunnies shriek at night but it had more of a bird tone to the call. Any idea what this bird could be? Would be well appreciated!

The grey hawk (I submitted) with the white ringed tail made a high pitched screeching sound like you just described.
