Help-Loud Chirping/Crowing Bird At Sunset until Sunrise (South Florida)

I live in South Florida and I have a bird that looks like an Egret except Black up high in a tree across the canal that is soooooo loud and keeps me and my family up all night. He or she starts at Sunset and continues until Sunrise. Can anyone tell me what type of bird this may be, why is he making so much noise at night, and is it possible for him to move to another location. I appreciate any help with my musically challenged bird. lol

Thanks,
Christina

Get earplugs!
by: Heather

I am also annoyed at night by all the racket but the birds live here too and have just as much right to do so... We were there ones who moved into their habitat... So earplugs and tolerance are in order for the creatures who share the earth with us, not shooing or relocating. Birds have been migrating through this area way longer than people have even been around to observe them...

He's Back
by: Anonymous

I suffered through what I now understand to be (at least I thought) Limpkin mating season around March/April. Well he's back after only a month! What I can't figure out is why the hundred or Ibis and Egrets that spend the night in our Poinciana don't get sick of him too and drive him off.

going nuts
by: Betty

I am now glad I know what kind of bird is making my nights feel like they will never end. Our canals are not that wide so it seems like the screeching is right in my bed room. Is there a way to nicely make these birds go some where else?

Black-Crowned Night Heron?
by: Jason

From your description I think it might be a Black-Crowned Night Heron. Very noisy bird and nocturnal. Hope this helps.
