Help! Pigeon or Dove?

by Z. Poycattle
(Dallas, TX, USA)

I saw this bird in my backyard and took a picture of it because I haven't seen a bird like this before in Texas. I need it identified though. I think it's a species of dove, but maybe a pigeon? The feet are a deep pink, they aren't visible in the picture.

Comment Pigeons and doves are of the same family. For the most part pigeons are larger than doves. It's hard to be certain from the photo, but I believe it is a mourning dove. When they walk, they bob their heads. You can read more about them here.
