Hayleys Super Suet

by Hayley
(Texas)

Ingredients needed: Lard or Veggie Shortining, whole wheat flour, cornmeal, oats, birdseed, ect.

This recipe is fun to make and my birds love it! Feel free to tell me how it went, and what birds ate it! I hope you enjoy this recipe!

1. Put as much lard as you want into a large bowl. (I usally use about a cup)
2.In a small bowl, mix even amounts of flour and cornmeal.
3. Add the flour/cornmeal mix to the lard and mix it together with your fingers. (You might want to wear plastic gloves, it gets greasy!)
4. The lard dough should be non-sticky enough to be able to roll into a ball, if still to sticky, add more flour until it's just right. OR if it is not sticky enough, add more lard.
5. Pour the birdseed, oats, or whatever you want into the large bowl and mix it up with the lard dough.
6. Make the dough into a ball again and smoosh it with your hand until it fits into your suet feeder.
Voila! Place in suet feeder and , if you want, stick a stick into the suet to help the less graceful birds get a bite. Sit back and enjoy the show!
