GROSBEAKS AND ME.

by ANNE PHILLIPS
(AMENIA NY USA)

MY HUSBAND AND I ORIGINALLY LIVED IN AMENIA NY FOR OVER 70 YEARS. SIX YEARS AGO WE MOVED TO FLORIDA. A RENTAL HOUSE IN AMENIA NEEDED SOME WORK, SO WE CAME BACK IN 2010 TO FIX AND SELL THE PLACE.
JUST COULDN'T BELIEVE MY FIRST BIRD WAS THE ROSE BREASTED GROSBEAK. I HAD BOUGHT A PLAIN BIRDFEEDER AND SUNFLOWER SEEDS WITH A SQUIRREL BAFFLE. THE MALE AND FEMALE GROSBEAK ARE HERE ALL TIMES OF EVERY DAY. WHAT A JOY. AMONG ALL THE OTHER BIRDS, WE HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP THIS HOUSE AND TAKE CARE OF OUR BIRDS.

Comment
Birds teach us many things;
How to savor life without spending tons of money.
They can be an exercise in healing and meditation.
A cure for depression.
A way to reclaim the joy of living.

I'm not sure what it is the grosbeaks mean to you but in some way - like for a special group of people - they have touched you.
ENJOY.
