greyish brown bird sleeps in porch corner

by Mary
(Cantonment Fl )

We live in semi-rural suburbs in Cantonment Fl and have a very small greyish brown bird ( don't know if baby or not ). We only see him at night and he is gone by very early morning. He barely has room to perch in the corner of our covered porch and always faces inside the corner. He does not move at all when we turn on the lighted porch fan to let the dog out during the night. He has a very long very narrow slightly hooked beak and a greyish brown body and is very small (a little smaller than a sparrow). Do you know what it might be?
