Description matches that of a cat bird.

Usually slate gray upper body and black cap on top of head with rusty colored patch under the tail.

Cat bird also has a mew like call similar to a cat.

Is also a cousin to the Mockingbird.

Cat birds also enjoy some fruit and mealworms as part of their diet and will frequent oriole feeders that offer grape jelly.

If you google catbird and look under images there are many pictures matching your description.
