Grapes!
We live on 36 acres in Osceola, WI--just 20 miles from the Minnesota border. We have a large pileated woodpecker that has been visiting our grape covered arbor for the past few days. The arbor is less than 10 feet from our side door and a large picture window in our living room, so we are able to watch him from a fairly close distance. He plucks the mature grapes from the vine and pecks at the wooden arbor. CommentThose grapes are no doubt an incredibly sweet treat for the woodpecker, as the cold heightens the sugar content. Susan
