Fran in Hawaii

Aloha,


We have recently had a bird come to eat the seed that I scatter on the ground for the Doves. It is a bit larger than the Cardinals. It jumps like one but jumps with much bigger jumps. It is dark brown almost olive sometimes. Has a distinct white eyebrow. Tail is almost boat tailed but not quite. I found a picture on the web (said HongKongwildlifephotos.blogspot.com. But this is not a website). I am unable to get a name for the bird. Would love to know who our new visitor is.

Found It Myself

I have spent many hours searching for the name of this bird. It is the Chinese Hwamai (painted eyebrow in Chinese) or Melodious Laughing Thrush.
He is a welcome bird to our garden because of his wonderful songs.
