found this cute little guy on the ground cant ly so well yet NEW
by: Brook

Hi there, cant fly so well yet,

It has just left the nest and doesn't have all of it's feathers in yet. The best thing you can do for it's survival is to put it in the safest place and as close as possible to where you found it. It is very possible that the parents were watching as you birdnapped it and in many bird species the parent brings food to the young after they have left the nest and also encourages them to fly.
It is an adorable little guy but if you want it to live you need to take it back ASAP because it won't live long in your care, it needs water and a proper diet for a young nuthatch within a certain time frame. The parents are most likely in the area still because they don't give up easily. If you were to keep it alive you wouldn't be able to release it because it wouldn't have learned how to take care of it's self. So let nature take it's course and don't be broken hearted. God bless your good heart, but don't birdnap any more!!!
