Swallows and Swifts

These birds you are seeing sound like the swallows and swifts in southern Ohio.
We live on a small lake in the summer, and in late summer we see cave swallows and some swifts flying over our 3 acre lake and swooping down for drinks of water. I think they also catch mosquitos.
