Flicker eating dogwood fruit

I saw a flicker eating fruit on a dogwood tree. It really looked funny as the branches were very flimsy compared to the weight of the flicker and it had trouble hanging on. I've never seen them eat fruit before. There has definitely been a lack of insects of all kinds in our area this year.
