Flicker at hummingbird feeder

by Wally

I live in Mesa, AZ. The only time I have seen flickers here has been when they are sipping nectar from the hummingbird feeder on my patio. I do not know if it is one or more than one flicker that is doing this. I have been surprised to see him/them since I did not know that flickers had any desire for nectar. It may be that they are just indulging their desire for water, although in my residential neighborhood there are quite a few sources of plain water open to them (pools, irrigation canals, etc.) I wonder if this is typical of flicker behavior or if it is unusual.

flicker at hummingbird feeder
by: tracey

Im in SC Wisconsin and have the flickers also feeding at the hummingbird feeder. Just started today I know this as the feeder is at the bay window. I haven't changed the water in a while... but enjoy seeing the flicker and there is one other bird enjoying the sweet water that I haven't identified yet.....
