First time visitor!

Hi! I'm a resident of Pewee Valley, KY, just over the county line from Louisville. I stumbled upon this site when searching for a positive identification of the newest visitor to our feeders this year - the Rose-Breasted Grosbeak - as well as trying to determine if this is a normal habitat for them.


Seen for the first time a few weeks ago, a male and female have been regular visitors, but apparently VERY camera-shy! They have been attracted to both a platform feeder where I'd put out bluebird nuggets and mealworms (I think they're only eating the nuggets, though), as well as a hanging feeder which I've stocked alternately with safflower seeds and sunflower hearts.

From what I've gleaned from my readings, I understand that this might just be a stopover in their migration. But I certainly hope they change their plans and settle down here. They make a great and colorful addition to our bird population!
