First Rose-Breasted Grosbeak I've Seen

by Marche' White
(Old Fort, NC)

Went out to sit on my porch this morning, of course watching my birds and to my surprise, I saw this beautiful bird I have never seen in my life. A little larger than my cardinals, rosy breast, black/white wings, large beak. He was lovely.

He drank water from my ground bird bath, ate some seeds from my ground cardinal feeders, perched in my magnolia tree for awhile, then left.
I did see him a couple of more times throughout the day. I hope to see him again tomorrow.
