Finch or Sparrow

by tcwood
(Seven Valleys, PA)

I live is Southern PA and I have flocks of these little guys come and go underneath my bird feeders in my back yard. They always seem to feed on the ground instead of landing on my bird feeder to feed. The always travel in groups of 6 to 15. Is it a house finch? They are greyish/black with a white belly. Cant find them in any bird reference lists.

It is so small, but according to your description, think it is a junco...have them here, in North Idaho...along with Stellar jays and chickadees...
